I have now added the reference lines for the topology.
I must say that it was very hard and frustrating tying to make sure that all the muscle lines were in the correct places, making sure that they all connected if my face shape was to change and to ensure that there was no triangles only quads as this would entail pinching. = (bad)
From looking at the past students work, I noticed that the ones that struggled the most were the students that did not spend a decent amount of time on there typology. Especially the ones that made it really complicated and did not spend time working out the simple routes and paths.
It took about 2 hours of work but I am very happy with the result. I then decided i wanted to see if you could recognize my face from just the reference lines??
As you can see I have kept lines to a minimal and made sure that I have avoided any 3 or 5 sided shapes that would cause me problems down the line with the polygon editing. Also as mentioned causing pinching and uneven surfaces, making face look unrealistic.
This was the result!! Now i would say that looks the spitting image of me if someone asked me in the street but ill let you decide what you think :P

Ready for your close up Mr Reeve?
And for god sake man show me a smile!!!
As you can see from the image I have taken pictures of my front and side profile, for the start of my 3D head.
The pictures were taken with a digital camera, then imported into Photoshop.
Then by using the lens distortion tool, making them appear flattened (easier to work with in 3d) followed by being: poked, prodded, scaled, tweaked and moved. So the main features lined up. Mainly using the transform tool, to rotate the head as the original ones were both leaning in different positions, a natural human occurrence but when making a 3d symmetrical model need to be corrected.
I soon realized that I must have a funny shaped head as not everything would line up perfectly but i managed to do the best i could with that somewhat funny looking face.
After receiving the brief and task for the next 12 weeks.
I have found that I am going to be making a 3D Version of my head, I am looking forward to taking on this task. As I know it will be a challenge due to the strict timing and my limited skills.
I am confident with my 2D skills such as Photoshop and Flash, but 3D is my downfall. So I would like to improve my 3D skills to a decent standard but have struggled in the past.
But feeling that I can rise to the challenge, putting in allot of hard work will hopefully end up with a good result. Also now that there is allot of support, such as videos from Jo, it will be easier to improve my skills.
I will shortly be taking a lovely image of my head for the model, I will explain in further detail as i progress through each stage of the project.
